Library of Congress photographs

Catalog facts were transcribed from saved Library of Congress JSON retrieved on September 4, 2026. Each item carries a “No known restrictions on publication” advisory. This is the catalog’s advisory, not a new determination of rights by this site.

The two 2015 photographs offer comparisons of subjects and purposes. Neither is a matched before-and-after view or a present-day photograph. The mill record does not connect the condition shown to the 1921 flood. The flood-damage date is a date received, not a verified exposure date.

Earthquake and tsunami lesson

The public lesson links its historical estimates and system descriptions to official NOAA, National Weather Service, and USGS references. Figures were reviewed September 4, 2026. Read the referenced lesson.

The possible saving of many thousands of lives is the lesson’s forward-looking inference from the historical evidence and the role of warnings and evacuation. The site does not present a measured U.S. lives-saved total or calculate a tsunami threat.

Earthquake lesson pictures and diagrams

The lesson reproduces the original source images, with credits beside each figure and links to full-size local copies.

Image files, original URLs, and credits are also listed in the image-credit manifest. All seven JPEGs preserve the original bytes; their embedded labels and credits are retained.

Earthquake data

The Earthquake Explorer calls the USGS GeoJSON summary feeds directly from the visitor’s browser. Records and magnitudes may be revised. The display preserves feed-generation time, and exported notes identify their snapshot and event sources.

Map

Made with Natural Earth. Public-domain land polygons, 1:110m. The bundled geometry was retrieved from the Natural Earth vector repository on September 4, 2026. Equirectangular projection.

Dot experiment

Patterns and measurements are produced by this website. The experiment is illustrative: browser timing, practice, and the small number of rounds limit interpretation. No comparison to a normative population is made.

Original illustrations

The casebook and counting-counter artwork were created for this portfolio with an AI image-generation tool. They are labeled as illustrations. They do not depict historical events, and they are separate from the authentic Library of Congress photographs and the scored dot patterns.

About this portfolio

Fieldwork is an independent portfolio by Denson Smith. It is not an official BoodleBox, Library of Congress, NOAA, or USGS product.

The site has no account system, analytics, result database, or private API key. Notes and game results stay in the open tab until copied or downloaded. The earthquake activity contacts USGS when loading or refreshing a feed. External source links open the original providers.

Community Budget Challenge & Public Hearing Detective

These are original fictional teaching exercises. Riverton, its budgets, witnesses, records, and dates were authored for Fieldwork. The budget model uses explicit classroom assumptions, not real municipal forecasts or engineering findings. Budget rules · Complete hearing case.

The Eastbank construction image was generated with OpenAI's image tool in September 2026 and is labeled as generated in the case. Its case date is authored scenario data, not camera metadata. Image prompt and provenance.

The activities were inspired by the purposes listed in BoodleBox's bot directories. Their implementation and companion instructions are original; they do not reproduce BoodleBox's unpublished configurations.
